The Blanot caves - Cluny Sud Bourgogne

The Blanot caves - Cluny Sud Bourgogne

The opening of the season will be held on the 18th of May, we will be delighted to welcome you. In the heart of the Mâconnais Hills, at the foot of Mount Saint-Romain, a beautiful jewel lies hidden beneath the Clunisois area: the Blanot Grottoes. The main cavity, the Cailleverdière cave-chasm, named after the lush vegetation surrounding the karst where it took shape, was discovered as early as 1700 and it was explored a few decades later by Doctor Dumolin, a trailblazer in the field of speleology. Since then, it has not ceased to amaze sightseers! The visit of the cave-chasm will plunge you into the depths of the earth more than 80m below the ground, within a vast and structured network, setting off to discover a whole maze of galleries interspersed with rooms that are each more puzzling and impressive than the others!
